Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the filtration rate and to decrease the water content in dehydrated cake by controlling the solid matter load of the sludge to be forced into a filtration chamber to 10-200kg per unit area (m<2>) of the filtration chamber. CONSTITUTION:Sludge is flocculated by an org. high molecular flocculant, forced into the filtration chamber of a filter press, compressed therein, and dehydrated. In this method, the solid matter content in the sludge to be forced into the filtration chamber is increased, and dehydration is performed at a relatively low pressure. Concretely, the solid matter load is set to 100-200kg/m<2>. As org. high molecular flocculant and an inorg. flocculant are jointly used for the flocculation. The composition contg. a cationic org. high molecular flocculant, an anionic org. high molecular flocculant not contg. a strong acid group, and an acid is used as the org. high molecular flocculant. By this method, the filtration rate is increased, and the water content in the dehydrated cake can be decreased.
