Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a multi-beam type photoelectric switch which makes a dedicated controller unnecessary and eliminates mutual interference by holding a multiplicity of light emitting sections and light receiving sections in one case and providing the light emitting section with a narrow band filter allowing a fundamental frequency component of modulation light to pass through. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting unit 21, a light receiving unit 22, or a light emitting and receiving unit is constituted by holding a multiplicity of light emitting sections 3a-3d and light receiving sections 4a-4d in single housings 20a, 20b. Frequencies of modulation light of respective light emitting sections 3a-3d are set to different frequencies. Narrow band filters for allowing fundamental frequency components only of the modulation light of respective light emitting sections 3a-3d to pass through are arranged to respective light receiving sections 4a-4d respectively corresponding to light emitting sections 3a-3d. This eliminates mutual interference, and makes a synchronous signal namely a dedicated controller unnecessary. As a result, a multi-beam type photoelectric switch can be obtained which causes no errors in operation even if each unit is connected in succession with a high reliability.
