Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a narrow-band optical filter having the desired characteristics, by inserting an optical waveguide path having no selecting function of the wavelength among plural phase gratings. CONSTITUTION:An optical filter is produced by inserting an optical waveguide path 42 having no selecting function of the wavelength between the phase gratings 41 and 43 in which each Bragg wavelength is shifted toward the long and short wavelength sides respectively. The filter transmission characteristics of both phase gratings are defined as shown by the solid and dotted lines in figure (b). Thus the transmission characteristics is obtained as shown in figure (c). As a result, a narrow-band filter is obtained to a desired wavelength lambda0. Other phase gratings having different characteristics are connected in series to increase the rejection band centering on the wavelength lambda0.
