Abstract

PURPOSE:To exclude an adverse effect of jitter and to improve accuracy in measurement, by determining the timing of data collection from an output of a timing signal generating circuit and an output of a comparator circuit operating when a laser light output is at a prescribed level or above. CONSTITUTION:In a radar apparatus equipped with a laser output element 21 operating at a prescribed operation timing, a drive pulse generating circuit 22A driving a scanning element 22 for scanning and a data collector circuit collecting an output signal of a detector 25 at a prescribed timing and sending same into a signal processing element 27, a timing signal generating circuit 21A outputting an operation timing signal for the laser output element 21 is provided along with the laser output element 21, while a comparator circuit 2 specifying an outputted laser light as an operation start signal when said light is at a prescribed level or above and sending same into the data collector circuit 26 is provided along with the data collector circuit 26. Signal determination is conducted when an output of the comparator circuit 2 and an output of the timing signal generating circuit 21A are inputted to a determination circuit 3 simultaneously, and a reference signal for starting the measurement of a distance is outputted immediately to the signal processing element 27.
