Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled molded article for lenses, having excellent heat resistance and weather resistance, by preliminarily polymerizing an acrylic monomer with an azo compound, adding a specific photochromic compound, a light stabilizer and an antioxidant to the preliminarily polymerized solution and carrying out cast polymerization with an initiator having a low decomposition temperature. CONSTITUTION:An (meth)acrylic monomer shown by formula I (R1 is H or CH3; R2 is H or 1-12C alkyl) is preliminarily polymerized by using an azo compound shown by formula II [R3 is CH, COOCH3, or CH3; R4 is C(OCH3)(CH3)2, CH(CH3)2, H or CH3] or azobicyclohexanenitrile as an initiator. Then the formed preliminarily polymerized solution is blended with a photochromic compound shown by formula III (R5 is H, halogen or CH; R6 is 1-7C alkyl; R7 is C or N), a light stabilizer shown by formula IV and/or an antioxidant shown by formula V (R9 is group shown by formula VI) and subjected to cast polymerization by using an initiator having a lower decomposition temperature than that of the initiator used in the preliminary polymerization to give the aimed molded article.
