Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform reclining in such a state that the angle formed by a seat surface and a backrest is kept constant, by allowing the backrest to lean on a support, which has a role for connecting a handle to an axle support to transmit the propelling force added to the handle to the axle support and making it possible to change the fulcrum thereof at any time. CONSTITUTION:In performing reclining, the lock of a slide fulerum structure member 9 equipped with a lock mechanism is loosened at first to make said member 9 slidable and, after the member 9 is appropriately pushed down to apply required inclination to a backrest 5, the lock is loosened to fix the position thereof. In the case of a chairwheel wherein a slide structure equipped with a lock mechanism is added to the fulcrum structure member of a seat surface 4, the lock thereof is further loosened to appropriately push the seat surface forwardly and the required movement of center of gravity is performed and, after the height of a handle 6 is corrected, the lock is tightened to fix the seat surface. The procedure returning the reclining state to a usual state is reverse to the above-mentioned procedure. When the wheelchair is folded for transport and housing, all of the locks are loosened.
