Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title high-MW polyether safely and easily, by reacting a specified compound with tetrafluorooxetane and/or hexafluoropropylene oxide. CONSTITUTION:A bifunctional compound (a) of formula I (wherein A and A' are each -COF, -COCl or -COOH, and m is 1-6) is reacted with 2,2,3,3- tetrafluorooxetane and/or hexafluoropropylene oxide at -30-20 deg.C in a solvent in the presence of a polymerization initiator and the solvent is removed from the reaction mixture. The product is perfluorinated with fluorine to obtain a fluorinated polyether having an MW of 1,000-20,000 of formula II (wherein X is a group of formula III, and Rf and Rf' are each a perfluoroalkyl polyether group).
