Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain cooling with high efficiency and to provide a projection type display device having high image quality by introducing cooling air to a liquid crystal light valve by means of a fan and an air flow regulating plate. CONSTITUTION: The fan 5 and the air flow regulating plate 6 formed by molding of plastic or sheet metal working, etc., are mounted in a case 10 and a dust filter 8 is mounted in the suction hole 9 of the fan 5. Namely, the external air taken in from the suction hole 9 by the fan 5 is introduced to the air flow regulating plate 6 and is blown to the liquid crystal light valve 1, by which the liquid crystal light valve 1 is cooled. The air is discharged from a discharge hole 9. Dust, etc., are removed at the time of sucking the air and the clean air is fed by a dust filter 8 mounted at the suction hole 7. As a result, the display defect by the temp. rise of the liquid crystal light valve 1 is prevented. The adhesion of the dust, etc., to the liquid crystal light valve 1 is prevented and the image quality is improved by mounting the dust filter 8.
