Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce high frequency noise without decreasing air quantity by forming a casing of a cross-flow fan with each opposed surface in front and in the rear, while forming a clearance between a fan blade and the front opposed surface to be larger at both ends but smaller at the central part respectively. CONSTITUTION:An air conditioner body 10 is provided with a heat exchanger 11, a crossfow fan 12 and a fan motor 13. Each of front and rear opposed surface 14, 15 is set up in this fan 12, whereby a casing 16 is formed. By the above constitution, a clearance (t) between a blade 17 of the fan 12 and the front opposed surface 14 is varied in the axial direction. Namely, this clearance (t) is made larger at both ends of the fan 12, whereby a high frequency noise due to interference with the blade 17 is reduced. A the central part where flow velocity is rapid and air capacity is much, the clearance (t) is made smaller, preventing any drop in performance from occurring. The high freuqncy noise is thus reduced without entailing decrease in the air capacity.
