Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at the simplification of a water proofing structure by arranging a permanent magnet so as to surround the circumference of a moving body which performs shift operation by means of excitation of a magnetic coil, and with this arrangement, making a magnetic fluid interposed between the inside of a coil case and the circumference the moving body so as to be adsortively retained. CONSTITUTION:A magnet switch part 8, consisting of a magnetic coil 14, a fixed core 15, a plunger 9 being attracted against a return spring 17 at the time of excitation of the magnetic coil 14 and so on, is installed in a housing 1 of a starter. A body of the plunger 14 and pinion sleeve 6a are connected to each other via a shift lever 10, and a pinion 6 is made to go to the right at the time of excitation of the magnetic coil 14, engaging it with a ring gear of an engine. In this case, a ringlike permanent magnet 12 and a iron plate 13 are interposingly installed between the side of an opening 11a at the inside of a case 11 and one end of the magnetic coil 14 being opposed to this opening, while a magnetic fluid 16 to be held by magnetic force of this permanent magnet 12 is interposed between the coil case 11 and the plunger 9.
