Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate operations and to greatly enhance earthquake resistance and design load by bonding first high strength lint axially on an existing structure, and winding second high strength lint transversely over the first high strength lint. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of sheets of first high strength lint 2, each of which is made from carbon fiber reinforced plastics or the like into a flat shape, that is, a tape shape, are bonded axially on the outer peripheral surface of an existing chimney 1 made of reinforced concrete. The surface of the high strength lint 2 is covered with a synthetic resin film such as a polyester film of edging material and second high strength lint strands 3 are further wound thereon. The first high strength lint 2 inhibits initial cracking and enhances flexural strength and the second high strength lint 3 increases the axial force of the existing structure to enhance earthquake resistance and design load.
