Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a plating layer of sufficient thickness at a high rate by winding a wire rod on the annular groove of a roller which is brought into contact with a cathode rod, and rotating the roller. CONSTITUTION:The freely rotatable roller 6 is provided in a plating bath 5, many annular grooves 7 are formed in the axial direction of the roller 6, the cathode rod 8 is brought into contact with the roller 6, the cathode rod 8 is rotated by the rotation of the roller 6, and plural anode materials 9 are provided in the bath 5. The wire rod 11 delivered from a tension roller 10 is led to the groove 7 of the first row, then successively led to the succeeding groove 7, spirally wound with a diameter sufficiently larger than that of the roller 6, and delivered to the outside through a guide roller 12. The roller 6 is then rotated to transport the spiralled wire rod 11 as such along the grooves 7. By this method, since the cathode rod 8 is brought into contact with the wire rod 11 at every pitch of the groove 7, a uniform electric current flows through the whole wire rod 11, and a thick plating layer can be formed at a high rate.
