PURPOSE:To improve the maximum energy product in a rare earth-Co-Fe, -Cu-Zr-O permanent magnetic material by specifying the weight ratio of Co and Fe. CONSTITUTION:The titled material is formed with the compsn. consisting of, by weight, 22-28% R (one or more kinds of rare earth elements including Y), 5-16% Fe, 5-10% Cu, 0.5-6% Zr, 0.03-0.8% O and the balance consisting substantially of Co. The weight ratio of Co and Fe is furthermore regulated to 0.1<=Fe/Co<=0.28. The characteristics of said compsn. lie in the fact that the Cu amount is suppressed and suitable amounts of Zr and O are added thereto. By this method, the angularness of a 4pi1-H loop can be improved; as the result, high maximum energy product can be obtd.
