Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce wear of side weirs and to prevent development of molten metal leakage by pushing the side weirs at both end parts of cooling rolls with energization of elastic member and limiting separation of the side weir from the cooling rolls through a restraining member. CONSTITUTION:The side weirs 1 are abutted on both end parts of one pair of the cooling rolls 2, 3 parallel arranged to horizontal direction to form pouring basin, and from here, molten metal 4 is introduced as cast slab 5 through gap between the cooling rolls 2, 3 rotated. In the above twin roll type continuous casting machine, the above side weir 1 is energized by the necessary min. limit of pushing force so as not to develop the molten metal leakage by compressed spring 6 arranged at reverse side of the cooling roll, to abut on both end parts of the cooling rolls 2, 3. Further, by restraining shifting of the side weir 1 toward separating direction from the cooling rolls 2, 3 with excessive force at more than the prescribed gap G with rods 8 of an oil hydraulic cylinders 7 arranged at reverse side of the cooling rolls 2, 3 to the side weir 1, the molten metal leakage is prevented.
