Abstract

PURPOSE:To develop the title combination sliding member having excellent resistance to seizing and wear by forming the member with an Al alloy having an anodized aluminum layer and an Al alloy having a high-hardness Ni-P alloy layer and having a thermal expansion coefficient slightly different from that of the former alloy. CONSTITUTION:Both members consisting of an Al alloy as the base material and having the thermal expansion coefficient <=3X10<-6>/ deg.C different from each other are used to form the combination sliding member used as a piston-type sliding member, especially as the body and valve of the oil-passage switching device of an automatic transmission. An anodized aluminum layer is formed on the sliding surface of the one Al alloy base material by anodization. An Ni-P alloy contg. 2-13% P is plated on the sliding surface of the other Al alloy base material, the alloy is heated at 250 deg.C for 1hr to harden the alloy as an Ni-Ni3P eutectic, and the hardness Hv is increased to >650. The sliding member can be used as a piston-type sliding member under sever sliding conditions.
