Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a titled valve seat having high strength and excellent wear resistance by compounding respective powders of graphite, Mo, Fe-B alloy and Fe-P alloy and Fe-base alloy powder having a prescribed compsn. with a prescribed compsn. and using a powder metallurgical method. CONSTITUTION:The Fe-base alloy powder having the compsn. consisting of 0.1-0.8wt.% C, 1-5% Cr, 0.5-2% Ni, 2-8% Co, 0.2-2% Nb, 0.3-1% Si, and the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities, the graphite powder, the Mo powder, the Fe-B alloy powder and the Fe-P powder are used as the raw material powders. These raw material powders are compounded with the compsn. consisting of 0.4-0.8% graphite, 4-15% Mo, 0.1-1% >=1 kinds of B and P, and the balance Fe-base alloy and the titled valve seat is produced from such powder mixture by the ordinary powder metallurgical method. The valve seat having the high density and high strength and exhibiting the high hardness and excellent wear resistance is obtd. by this method.
