Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the joining strength and to prevent the degradation in characteristic due to joining by welding a piezoelectric oscillating piece stood on a stem to a lead wire soldered on the surface by ultrasonic welding.
CONSTITUTION: Front end parts 6 and 7 of lead wires 2 and 3 are crushed before sealing and solders 8 and 9 are adhered on their surfaces by plating, vapor-deposition, sputtering, or the like. Lead wires 2 and 3 are buried in a stem 1, and thereafter, mount parts 13 and 14 of a bar AT crystal oscillating piece 10 are brought into contact with front end parts 6 and 7 and are fixed there by the ultrasonic welding method to mount the oscillating piece. Thus, a piezoelectric oscillator which has a high joining strength and is free from degradation in characteristic is obtained because joining is completed in a short time and the electrode film of the oscillating piece 10 is not covered with solders.
