Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent ground fogging, impart excellent conductivity to a thermal recording paper and improve containability into a tray, by using a colorless or light-colored dye precursor, a color developer and a salt of polystyrenesulfonic acid with a divalent - tetravalent metal. CONSTITUTION:A salt of polystyrenesulfonic acid with a divalent - tetravalent metal to be used may comprise, as the metal, a group II metal (e.g., Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba or Zn), a group III metal (e.g. Al), a group IV metal (e.g., Ti or Pb) or the like, preferably, Mg or Ca. A colorless or light-colored dye precursor to be used may be based on, for example, fluoran, triarylmethane, diphenylmethane, phenothiazine or spiropyran. A color developer to be used may be one of various electron-acceptive substances capable of developing the dye precursor into a color by reacting therewith when being heated, for example, a phenol, a naphthol, an aromatic carboxylic acid or an inorganic solid acid. The dye precursor and the color developer are separately dispersed, the resultant dispersed liquids are mixed with each other, and the resultant mixture is applied to a base. The polystyrenesulfonate is applied before applica tion of the mixture, either directly as it is or after being mixed with an aqueous solution of starch oxide or polyvinyl alcohol.
