Abstract
PURPOSE:To accurately control the feed quantity of an ink ribbon and prevent a color error from being generated, by enabling a thermal head, pinch rollers and a ribbon guide to be moved to positions separate from the ink ribbon so that the ribbon can be freely moved. CONSTITUTION:In the case of printing by use of an ink ribbon 8 coated cyclicly with three color inks, when a printing range is less than one line, it is necessary to take up an unused part of the ribbon. In such a case, a status switching motor 12 is driven to turn a cam block 21 clockwise by a center angle 5, whereby a thermal head 7, a pinch roller 9, a driven pinch roller 10 and a ribbon guide 11 are moved to separate from the ribbon 8, thereby permitting free movement of the ribbon 8, and the ribbon 8 is taken up around a take-up bobbin 14. Thus, the feed quantity of the ink ribbon can be accurately controlled, and favorable color printing can be performed through preventing a color error from being generated.
