Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the composition of a printer and eliminate the necessity for a buffer means by such an arrangement wherein a sequencne of operations of the forward movement and backward movement of a print head and the change-over of an ink ribbon is controlled by two cams installed to a shaft which is rotated by a pulse motor. CONSTITUTION:When a black ink ribbon 7 is positioned between a print head 1 which is at a printable forward position and a printing media 21, a pulse motor 18 drives to rotate a square shaft 16, and a head position control cam 13 causes a cam lever 10 to rotate around a shaft 12, and in turn it causes a slide plate 2 to slide upward which in turn causes the print head 1 to move backward away from the printing media 21. In the meantime, another control cam 15 also rotates and lifts the top end of a cam lever 14 and ink ribbon cartrideges 4, 5 and a ribbon guide means move and an ink ribbon is changed. As the cam 13 rotates further and causes the head 1 to move forward and sets it to a printable position.
