Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase a difference in the detection levels of a color identification sensor when cullet is a prescribed color and when not and to enhance the supply capacity of a sorter by providing the sorter with this sensor so as to receive the rays from a light projector transmitted through the cullet. CONSTITUTION: The rays are projected from a light source 17 to the cullets W, B, T, R of the respective colors under falling from the discharge end of respective tracks 9 through the trough 4 of a vibration feeder 3 from a large hopper 1 and the rays transmitted through the transparent cullets W, B, T, R are received by the sensor 15. When the rays of the intensity higher than the detection level set at the sensor 15 are received, i.e., when the white cullet W and the colorless transparent cullet T are detected, nozzles 11 are disabled and the cullets W, T are discharged at a horizontal initial speed to a forward intermediate hopper 10a, from which the cullets are dropped by gravity. When the sensor receives the rays of the intensity weaker than this level, i.e., when the red and brown cullets R, B are detected, air is ejected out of the nozzles 11 to discharge the cullets R, B to a forward intermediate hopper 10b.
