Abstract
PURPOSE:To monitor the output light of a laser to take out the variance of the laser output to the external without having an influence upon the output operation by approximating a fiber, which consists of the same material as the fiber laser or materials different from those of the fiber laser, to each of one or more fiber lasers in parallel to constitute an optical waveguide coupler. CONSTITUTION:A core 1 consisting of materials having a large nonlinear optical constant is used in a fiber laser 2, and a fiber 3 is formed with the same materials as the fiber laser 2 or materials different from those of the fiber laser 2. The fiber 3 is melt-fixed or polished and adhered to the fiber laser 1 to constitute the optical waveguide coupler. The fiber laser 2 and the fiber 3 are approximated to each other in parallel and are joined, and the output of the fiber laser 2 is monitored by the fiber 3, and the variance of the laser output is taken out to the external without having an influence upon the output operation.
