Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ceramics having a uniform compsn., high density, easy sinterability and superconductive characteristics by drying and calcining a coprecipitate formed from an aq. soln. contg. compds. of copper, an alkaline earth metal and a rare earth metal and by molding and sintering the resulting compd. oxide powder. CONSTITUTION:Compds. of copper, and alkaline earth metal selected among Mg, Ba, Sr and Ca and a rare earth metal are weighed so as to obtain a desired compsn. and they are dissolved in water to prepare a mixed aq. soln. A coprecipitate is formed from the aq. soln. by adding a precipitant such as oxalic acid or NH3 in the presence of an aq. org. solvent such as alcohol, acetic acid, THF, ethylene glycol or ethyleneamine. The formed coprecipitate is separated by filtration, dried and calcined at 400-1,100 deg.C. The resulting compd. oxide powder is molded into a prescribed shape and sintered, e.g., at 500-1,200 deg.C to obtain the titled superconductive ceramics represented by formula I or II (where RE is a rare earth metal, M is an alkaline earth metal, x>0, y<1, 0<delta<3, 1<z<3 and 0<gamma<4).
