Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable uniform cutting to be automatically and continuously performed without any response delay so as to improve cutting accuracy by varying the rotational angular speed of a rotary table and moving speed of a cutting tool, in X-direction and controlling the cutting speed of the cutting tool along a scroll curve to become constant. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece 1, which is to be formed into a scroll curve shape, is mounted on a rotary table 2 so as to be rotated by a rotary table rotating means. And, a cutting tool 3 mounted on a head 4 is movably supported in an X-shaft direction, and then, the rotational speed and moving speed of the table 2 and the cutting tool 3 respectively are automatically controlled by means of an NC device 5 so as to be changeable every moment. Only the movement of the cutting tool 3 in the X-direction while rotating the table 2 in this way, makes the workpiece 1 to be automatically cut so that a scroll is shaped thereon. Thereat, a cutting speed becomes constant so that the surface of the workpiece is uniformly cut and further a flat surface with given face roughness can be smoothly formed, thereby, improving cutting accuracy.
