Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the rapid and sure cutting of a glass plate in circular or irregular form, by transferring a cutter head along X and Y axes using two linearly movable tables relative to the glass plate fixed on a table, and revolving the cutter head horizontally around the Z axis by numerical control.
CONSTITUTION: The first linearly movable table 6 which moves along the Y axis is mounted on the slide rail device 5 placed above the table 1 supporting the glass plate 4 fixed thereto. The second linearly movable table 15 having the cutter head 24 is mounted on the second slide rail device 14 which crosses par pendicularly to the Y axis and is placed in front of the first table 6. The cutter head 24 is shifted along X and Y axes to a desired position, and moved to trace the predetermined cutting line by driving the numerically controlled Z-axis servo motor attached to the cutter head, revolving the spline, and horizontally revolving the cutter wheel 28. By this mechanism, the cutter wheel traces the desired pattern accurately irrespective of various external forces, and the glass plate can be cut accurately in the form of a small circle, arc, etc.
