Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a small occupied area by providing a correction capacitor array in addition to a main capacitor being a building block so as to increase the accuracy of the capacitance ratio of a binary weight capacitor. CONSTITUTION:The capacitances of capacitors C0, C1...C4 are subject to binary weight such as 1pF, 2pF...16pF to constitute the main capacitor array. The capacitances of capacitors CC1, CC2 are subject to binary weighting such as 1pF, 2pF to constitute a correction capacitor array. The high-order bit of an input data is subject to logical operation by a gate circuit, that is, a field programmable element FDLD and the result is used as a control signal for the correction capacitor array. Thus, the matching error of the binary weight capacitor is corrected efficiently after the manufacture to obtain an AD converter with a small occupied area.
