Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect presence/absence of an optical disk cartridge with high reliability by moving a picker from a home position toward a cell, and detecting by a detection means. CONSTITUTION:A control means 26, when the generation of a cell map is instructed by a host device, controls to position the picker 4 at the place of the target cell of a container shelf 10. Then the control means 26 become capable of deciding that an optical disk cartridge 11 is present in the cell through the state of the means 27, in the meantime, that the cartridge 11 is not present in the cell can be made clear through the state of the means 27 and that a detecting sensor for feeding position, hence the presence/absence of the optical disk cartridge can be exactly detected. In such a way, by making use of a sensor for detecting the position of a picker 4 whose moving length is long, the presence/absence of the optical disk cartridge 11 is decided, hence the detection for presence/absence of optical disk cartridge can be made with high reliability.
