Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise an X-ray utilization factor and a light utilization factor from a scintillator, and to improve the CT picture quality by using a photodiode consisting of an amorphous photoconductive material, and processing its output signal by a thin film electronic circuit provided on the scintillator. CONSTITUTION:A scintillator 1 is divided optically and radiately into 16 parts, and on the upper face, a photodiode PD 3 consisting of an amorphous photoconductive material is provided, and in order to process its output electric signal, a thin film electronic circuit 2 is formed. X rays are made incident from the lower part and converted to a fluorescence by the scintillator 1. The X rays are absorbed almost completely by the scintillator 1, therefore, it does not occur that the X rays run through to the upper face. A light beam emitted from the scintillator 1 is converted to a photocurrent by the PD 3 and the circuit 2. In such a way, since the PD 3 is formed directly on the scintillator 1, the photodetection efficiency of the PD 3 is high, and a signal of high S/N can be fetched.
