Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure clearance between a rotor blade and a casing in a simple and inexpensive way by applying a laser beam to the clearance through a probe or the like and shifting the position of the laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 15 radiated from a laser 8 is focused by a beam condenser 7 so as to be transmitted to a probe 4. In this case, a prism 11 to make the laser beam 15 parallel to a casing 3, and a cylindrical lens 12 to fanwise diffuse a laser beam 13, are build in the probe 4. Then the incidence position of a laser beam 14 upon a prism 11 is shifted so as to radially change the position of fanlike thin membraneous light 10 by shifting an optical system 5 in axial direction. Consequently, a clearance between the top edge of a rotor blade 1 and the casing 3 can be measured from an observation window 9 according to the position of the membraneous light 10 in radial direction.
