Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent malfunctioning due to an exciting rush current by detecting the magnetic saturation state of a transformer by means of a magnetic sensor to operate an inhibit element. CONSTITUTION:When an internal accident occurs in a transformer 1, a leakage flux, where an iron core is saturated magnetically, is not generated and the output inputted from a magnetic sensor 10 to an inhibit element 8 does not reach a prescribed level so that the inhibit element 8 does not operate. However, when an exciting rush current flows through the transformer 1 at the time of application of power PS to the transformer 1, the iron core of the transformer 1 is saturated magnetically. Consequently, leakage flux increases in the place, where the magnetic sensor 10 is arranged, so that the output of the magnetic sensor 10 increases to be inputted to the inhibit element 8. As a result, while an operating element 7 operates by the exciting rush current, the inhibit element 8 also operates to control operation of the operating element 7 so that a protective relay main body 6 does not operate. Therefore, the protective relay neither malfunctions nor actuates current side and load side breakers 2, 3 for breaking.
