CONSTITUTION:When the spark discharge occurs, an impulsive load current due to a discharging current from the capacitor C of the rectifying circuit of a high voltage power source 1 flows and an abnormality detection signal from an abnormality detecting circuit 8 is sent out to a control circuit 90. The control circuit 90 on inputting the abnormality detection signal outputs a switching stop signal for a transistor(TR) 5 to a driving circuit 4, which stops supplying the high voltage to a corona discharger 21 to stop the spark discharge. Then a deviation signal for outputting the high voltage lower than the high voltage at the time of the spark discharge out of the control circuit 90 to the corona discharger 21 is outputted to the driving circuit 4. Therefore, a corona discharging current which is less than before flows to the corona discharger 21 while made constant. Consequently, the down time of the device is reduced.
