Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a portable data terminal which can continue operation even upon source voltage drop of battery, by providing an auxiliary battery comprising a secondary cell and a switching means for feeding power from a main battery or an auxiliary battery to a load. CONSTITUTION:A switch section 5 is normally at a switching position (a), and power necessary for operation is fed from a main battery 1 to a printer 3 and a display 4. When discharge of the main battery 1 proceeds and droppage of source voltage of the main battery 1 below a detection level is detected through a low voltage detection circuit 6, the switch section 5 is switched to position (b) by an output from a control circuit 8. At the same time, the display 4 displays the switching of power source to an auxiliary battery 2 and the time elapsed after the switching of power source and the residual available time of the auxiliary battery 2 are displayed.
