Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the access speed of a file memory device by disposing two sets of magnetic head devices which are independently operatable, writing a magnetic disk with one magnetic head device and reading on the other hand a data array once written with the other magnetic head device. CONSTITUTION:One set of the magnetic heads 4 and 5 disposed opposite to four recording surfaces 1a, 1b, 2a and 2b of the magnetic disks 1 and 2, are disposed to deviate track positions, so as to take their share in recording/ reproducing bits of information to/from an inner circumferential recording area and an outer circumferential area respectively. Positioning controls for the magnetic heads 4 and 5 and each control for write and read are independently carried out by drive devices 6, and when one magnetic head is under dealing with a bit of information to/from the file memory device, the other magnetic head is able to deal with a bit of information to/from a CPU. By this method, an effective access time of the file memory device can be reduced accordingly.
