Abstract

PURPOSE:To form coated films of sufficient thicknesses to the floor parts of a body by intermittently oscillating the body with the longitudinal direction of the body as an axis while holding the body still for the specified period of time in the horizontally turned posture in which the transverse direction of the body faces a vertical direction in the state of fully immersing the body in an electrodeposition cell. CONSTITUTION:The body W of an automobile is fully immersed in the horizontally turned posture in the electrodeposition cell 1 and is held still for the specified period of time; thereafter the body W is slowly oscillated to the horizontally turned posture in the reverse direction. After the body is held still for the specified period of time in this horizontally turned posture, the body W is oscillated again to the original horizontally turned posture and held still for the specified period of time. The body W is thereafter put into the horizontally turned posture in the reverse direction and is emitted in this state from the cell. The coated films are formed on the side face parts of the body during the oscillation of the body W. The floor parts of the body face an electrode 2 on one side of the electrodeposition cell 1 and the coated films are thickly formed on the floor parts while the body is held still in the horizontally turned posture. The electrodeposition is thereby executed without generating steps in the coated films in the side face parts of the body W.
