Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the uniformity of paint film thichness further by subjecting an anodized Al-based metal beforehand to temporary sealing then to an anode preelectrolysis treatment for growing a barrier type film in constant current electrodeposition painting of said metal.
CONSTITUTION: A surface conditioned Al or Al alloy is anodized and after the anodized film is rinsed, it is temporally sealed. For example, in a light treatment to the extent of warm washing with demineralizes water, the SO4 2-, etc. in the fine pores of the porous layer are washed off, and part of the fine pore surface layer is hydrated. Thereby, the reaction other than growth of a barrier layer in the next anode preelectrolysis treatment is prevented. Next, pieces 1W3 to be treated are arranged in parallel with an anode preelectrolysis bath 5, and with these as anode, electricity is conducted. The bath 5 is triethylamine or the like of pH of the extent of not breaking down the barrier film. The respective electrodeposition painting materials applied with this treatment are disposed in the same way as that in the above-described pretreatment, and are subjected to electrodeposition painting with constant DC current.
