Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled slurry having improved dispersibility and fluidity and excellent stability, by pulverizing coal, removing ash and S from the pulverized coal by a flotation method, dehydrating the purified coal froth and wet pulverizing or kneading the resultant froth in the presence of a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:Coal is wet or dry pulverized so that, e.g. >=80wt.% particles may pass through a 200-mesh screen, and ash, sulfur, etc., in the coal are then removed by a flotation method to provide a purified coal froth, which is then dehydrated and wet pulverized or kneaded in the presence of a surfactant, such as formalin condensate of sodium naphthalenesulfonate, to afford the aimed slurry. Furthermore, in the process, flocculants, obtained by dehydrating the purified froth and tail and consisting of metallic ions and/or polyaluminum chloride, etc., are removed and the removed water is simultaneously reutilized.
