Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the titled composite having excellent mechanical strength, etc., and suitable as a shield for electromagnetic radiation, antistatic plate, etc., in high productivity, by swelling a polymer film with a specific solution, sandwiching the swollen film between a pair of electrodes and passing AC current through the film. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aromatic compound having hetero-atom (e.g. aniline or pyridine) is dissolved in a solvent (e.g. water or methanol) capable of swelling (B) a polymer film (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol). (C) A supporting electrolyte salt (e.g. salt of halogen ion and lithium ion) is added to the above solution and the component B is swollen e.g. by immersing in the mixture. The swollen film is sandwiched between a pair of electrode substrates such as glass plate having vacuum-deposited layer of e.g. gold. An AC current having selected voltage and frequency, etc., is passed through the swollen film to obtain the objective composite material.
