Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce dark and noise currents by monolithically forming acceleration resistance for generating voltage for accelerating secondary electrons generated inside a secondary electron multiplying tube toward a collector, in a part of the tube. CONSTITUTION:A current flowing in a secondary electron multifying tube 2 with application of high voltage and a resistor constituent held by a portion ranging from an anode 4 of the tube 2 to an insertion end 21a of a collector 21 causes voltage to decrease to form acceleration voltage of secondary electrons to the collector 21. Namely, the resistor constituent and the current generate voltage decrease. Potential at a position P of the tube 2 corresponding to the insertion end 21a becomes lower than that of the collector 21 to form potential inclination toward the collector from the position P, resulting in reduction of dark current and noise.
