Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a high frequency component included in output, by preserving a reference waveform in which a phase angle is divided in (n) steps and approximated as (m) reference waveforms by phase-shifting at every 2pi/n.m, setting a carrier frequency at a sufficiently large value, and obtaining a PWM signal by sequentially selecting the reference waveform at every carrier frequency. CONSTITUTION:A reference waveform generator 10 is provided with a ring counter 10A which issues a prescribed access timing signal based on a frequency command, and (m) ROMs 10B divided to (n) steps and approximated to each address and store reference sine wave data phase-shifted by 2pi/n.m, respectively. A carrier generator 20 generates a carrier which sets the number of carriers included in one step of the reference sine wave sufficiently larger than (m). A selector 40 selects the (m) reference sine waves sequentially at every carrier cycle of the carrier generator 20, and obtains a pulse modulation signal by comparing the sequentially selected reference sine wave with the carrier.
