Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable automatic measurement of a loss of an insulator at a high accuracy while permitting the learning of the state of insulation from the degree of distortion, by calculating a coefficient of mutual correlation between a voltage waveform applied to the insulator and a current waveform flowing therethrough. CONSTITUTION:An impedance 2 for voltage waveforms is connected in parallel to an AC power source 1 and an insulator 3 and an impedance 4 for measuring current waveforms are connected between a high voltage terminal of the AC power source 1 and the earth. Outputs of the impedances 2 and 4 are stored into a memory of a waveform memory 5 by one to several cycles through an A/D converter. An arithmetic device 6 calculates a mean of voltage waveforms and current waveforms to subtract it from a sample value data for each waveform and after the removal of a DC component, a self-covariance coefficient is calculated. Then, a mutual covariance coefficient is calculated and a self-covariance coefficient is normalized to calculate a mutual correlation coefficient. Then, a time difference between a voltage waveform and a current waveform is determined so as to give the mutual correlation coefficient the max. value thereby obtaining an insulating property of the insulator.
