Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure drive of various devices and to enable compacting of an engine, by a method wherein the rotation force of a crank shaft is transmitted to a tappet valve mechanism and other auxiliary device through a single flexible endless member. CONSTITUTION:In the same vertical surface as that of a drive pulley 8 formed to the front end of a crank shaft 7, a pulley 16 for driving a pump is situated on the left and a pulley and a pulley 13 for driving a balance and a tensioner 14 are situated on the opposite side with a line therebetween, interconnecting the pulley 8 and a pulley 11 for driving a cam, and the tensioner 14 is positioned further outside than the pulley 13. An endless double-toothed belt 18 is spanned such that the pulleys make contact with the single endless belt 18 in a way that the pulleys 8, 11, 16, and 14 are brought into contact with the inner surface of the belt 18 and the pulley 13 is forced into contact with the outer surface of the belt 18. This constitution of the auxiliary devices adequately increases a winding angle of the endless double-toothed belt 18 with the pulleys 11, 16, 13, and 8, reliably transmits the power of the crank shaft 7 to each auxiliary device, simplifies a transmission mechanism, and compacts an engine.
