Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable reduction of the size of an air intake device, by a method wherein a moving member is situated in an intake air passage, and the moving member is moved to change the sectional area of a flow. CONSTITUTION:A variable duct 160 is situated between an air cleaner 120 and a surge tank 150 with which an air intake device 100 is formed. A stationary cylinder 162 is situated on the downstream side of the interior of a housing 161 of the variable duct 160, and a varying cylinder 163 is situated on the upper stream side. Through drive of the varying cylinder 163 by means of a drive means 300, the sectional area of an air flow is changed. This constitution enables deviation of the peak of volume efficiency by means of a single variable duct, and enables reduction of the size of the air intake device.
