Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the smooth selective use of plural columns by providing selector valves to the outlet side of the columns so that the columns connected to an ion source can be selected. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous sample from an introducing pipe 6 is sealed into a measuring pipe 8 via the 6-way selector valve 7 and is fed toward the columns by the operation of the selector valve 7. A carrier gas is introduced from introducing pipes 14, 15 through carrier gas flow rate controllers, 4, 5 into the columns. The columns 1, 2 are selected by the 8-way selector valve 3. The gaseous sample sealed into the measuring pipe 8 is passed through the selector valve 7 and the selector valve 3, then through the column 1 by the carrier gas from the flow rate controller 4 and is again passed through the selector valve 3, then through the separator 10, from which the gaseous sample is introduced into an ionization box 12 of a mass spectrometer 11. The carrier gas passing the flow rate controller 5 is passed through the selector valve 3 and the column 2 and is discharged again from the selector valve 3 to a discharge pipe 9. The carrier gas separated by a separator 10 is also discharged from a discharge pipe 16.
