Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate oxygen and methane easily and positively, by using two columns when measuring methane and non-methane hydrocarbon by means of gas chromatography.
CONSTITUTION: Sample gas stored in a measuring pipe 32 under a condition shown in the figure B is introduced to the first column 33 by changing over a cock to a condition shown in the figure A. Non-methane and both oxygen and methane in the sample gas are separated the column 33, and oxygen and methane are sent to the second column 34. Oxygen and methane are separated at the second column 34, and fed to the next hydrogen flame ionization detector 35 and oxygen and methane are successively measured. The cock is changed over to the condition shown in the figure B, and non-methane remaining in the first column 33 is flushed back and measured by means of the detector 35.
