Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable recording quality not to be deteriorated by a method wherein a heat insulation part is provided at least to a part corresponding to a recording area by a recording head of a platen, and a discharge direction and a discharge speed of ink and a particle diameter of an ink drop are stabilized by preventing a discharge surface from dewing as far as possible. CONSTITUTION:A depressed part 12A is provided to a part of a platen 12 opposed to a discharge surface 20A of a recording head 20 and besides, a heat insulation member 52 of a lower heat conductivity than that of a component of a platen 12 is provided to the depressed part 12. Heat of a fixing heater 50 is transmitted thereby to a recording medium 33 via said arranged part, and a water content of ink is evaporated to promote fixing. Further, water vapor generated by vaporization of the water content of ink does not reach the discharge surface 20A of the recording head 20 owing to the insulation member 52. Consequently, the discharge surface 20A is prevented from dewing, or otherwise the dewing becomes at least slight. Therefore, when the ink is discharged, the discharge direction and discharge speed thereof and the particle size of the drop of ink can be stabilized.
