Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably obtain the copy image with good quality for a long time by previously prescribing the nip width of a conductive member and a photosensitive body and the load per a unit contact area and cleaning the area in the longitudinal direction of the photosensitive body where the conductive member contacts with the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The contact nip width of the conductive member 2 and the photosensitive body 1 including an organic photoconductor is set >=0.5mm and the load per a unit contact area between both 1 and 2 is set within the range of 0.5-30g/mm<2>. Then, contact pressure to both 1 and 2 can be properly kept and uniform electrification can be possible. And the area in the longitudinal direction of the photosensitive body 1, cleaned by a cleaning means 9, is made to contain the area in the longitudinal direction of the photosensitive body where the conductive member 2, at least, contacts with the photosensitive body 1. Thus, the occurrence of the dielectric breakdown caused by the sticking substance such as toner, etc., remaining on the surface of the photosensitive body 1 can be prevented without cleaning there.
