Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a copied image having a uniform image density and excellent image quality by consisting a layer control member of a flat plate elastic body and providing an axially bent part thereon. CONSTITUTION:A developer carrying roll 4, the layer control member 5 and a developer supplying member 3 are disposed in a hopper 2. The developer 1 in the hopper 2 is triboelectrostatically charged by friction of the developer supplying member 3 and the developer carrying roll 4, by which electrostatic charge is applied thereto and the developer is stuck to the surface of the roll 4. The developer is controlled to a thin layer state of a prescribed thickness by the layer control member 5 and the electric charge having the prescribed polarity is applied by a sliding friction charge. A DC superposed AC bias voltage is applied by a developing bias power supply 11 to this thin developer layer 6, by which said layer is moved to a developing region facing a photosensitive body 10, where the developer is splashed toward an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photosensitive body 10 by the electric field between said image and the roll 4 and is stuck onto the electrostatic latent image to visualize said image. The layer control member 5 is constituted of a stainless steel leaf spring material 7, has an electrostatic charge imparting part of a soft elastic body 8 and is formed with the bent part 7a in the end part.
