Abstract

PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce an adsorbent capable of adsorbing basic and acidic substances, difficult to dissolve, and having excellent heat resistant by introducing bivalent metal ions into phosphate rock and/or coral lime by ion exchange. CONSTITUTION:Phosphate rock or coral lime is pulverized, added to the soln. of the salt of the bivalent heavy metal ion to be introduced kept at about 4-6pH, and agitated to obtain ion-exchange particles. These particles are separated, and dried to be used as adsorbent. Since the obtained adsorbent has a high initial adsorption rate as compared with activated carbon, is capable of adsorbing even acidic substances, unlike the chemical adsorbent which adsorbs only basic substances, and is stable even at the high temp. of 500 deg.C, the adsorbent can be worked into an applied product.
