Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance mercury removal efficiency by controlling both concn. of effective chlorine in washing liquid and in the exhaust gas to be treated so that mercy removal is made at a prescribed value or more. CONSTITUTION:Mercury-contg. exhaust gas 3 which has been exhausted from a refuse incinerator, etc., cooled and dust-collected is treated and the generated exhaust gas 4 is discharged to the atmosphere via a precooling tower 1 and a washing tower 2. Washing liquid added with caustic soda is sent into the precooling tower 1 and the washing tower 2 via the pipelines 6a, 6b and sprayed to absorb harmful gas such as hydrogen chloride and sulfur oxide and mercury. The fed amount of caustic soda 8 is controlled by a pump 9 on the basis of pH value of washing liquid 5 in the pipeline 6a. Further, hypochlorite 12 in a tank 11 is fed to this washing liquid 5 by a pump 13 and the feed amount is controlled with an arithmetic controlling device 16 so that both concn. of effective chlorine in the washing liquid and concn. of effective chlorine in exhaust gas to be treated are regulated to the respective preset reference values.
