Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a measurement frequency from generating a ripple even when the cycles of input pulses are longer than sampling cycles by finding the measurement frequency in consideration of the number of sampling cycles wherein no pulse arrives. CONSTITUTION:A pulse counter 1 counts input pulses Vin and a clock generator 2 latches the output C0 of the pulse counter 1 at the end of each sampling cycle and clears the pulse counter 1 after the delay time of delay D1. When the counted value C0 of the pulse counter 1 is 0, a signal generator 3 generates a no-pulse signal P0 and a zero counter 4 increments its counted value S. When the counted value of the pulse counter 1 is larger than 0, on the other hand, the signal generator 3 supplies a latch signal P1 to a holding circuit 6 and a computing element 5 calculates a frequency from the outputs of the pulse counter 1 and zero counter 4 and inputs it to the holding circuit 6.
